Rowing Ireland warmly thanks Sport Ireland, Minister Patrick O’Donovan, and Minister of State Charlie McConalogue for their unwavering commitment to high performance sport and for recognising the ongoing progress and potential within Rowing Ireland. The announcement of a record €27 million in high-performance funding, along with continued investment in Rowing Ireland during this important transition phase, is a strong endorsement of the hard work and dedication of our board, athletes, coaches, and support staff.

We are proud to play our part in Ireland’s success on the international stage and deeply appreciate the trust and investment placed in us. As we embark on a new Olympic cycle and look ahead to LA 2028, we remain committed to driving excellence in every aspect of our sport.

In 2025, Rowing Ireland will take a significant step forward with key high-performance appointments that will be central to shaping our long-term strategy and ensuring that we continue to deliver world-class performances. We look forward to working closely with Sport Ireland and the Government in year two of this funding cycle, and we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead as we continue to grow and evolve Irish rowing.

Michelle Carpenter, CEO of Rowing Ireland, commented:
“This continued investment is not only a reflection of past achievements, but a show of confidence in our vision for the future. We’re entering a new chapter for Irish rowing, and the support from Sport Ireland and the Government allows us to build the foundations for long-term success as we move toward LA 2028. Our entire community — from grassroots to high performance — feels the impact of this support.”

Dominic Casey, Lead Coach of Rowing Ireland, added:
“This level of support makes a real difference on the ground. It means our athletes can focus fully on their training and preparation, knowing they have the resources and structures behind them. We’ve achieved great things, but we know there’s more to come. The next phase of our journey starts now, and it’s an exciting one.”
