Paul is one of Ireland’s most successful rowers, having won multiple World Championship titles and Olympic gold medals in the LM2x category.

In 2024, Paul raced in the LM2x at the Paris Olympics, securing his second Olympic gold after winning gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Paul’s first Olympic medal came in 2016, when he won bronze alongside his brother Gary in the LM2x, marking Ireland’s first-ever Olympic rowing medal.

Paul made his Irish Rowing Team debut in 2011, finishing 4th in the JM1x at the Junior World Championships.

Over the years, Paul has earned multiple medals at junior and U23 levels, before ultimately achieving the remarkable feat of winning seven senior World Championship titles.

Originally from Skibbereen, Cork, Paul has been a dominant force in Irish rowing throughout his career.
