Women in Sport Initiatives 2024-2025

Women in Leadership

In 2024, six incredible incredible female leaders from rowing clubs across the country completed the Women in Leadership course. This program empowers women to take on leadership roles in sport. Visit here for more information on the Women in Leadership programme.

Young Women in Leadership

In 2024, five inspiring young women completed their Young Women in Leadership course in collaboration with Rowing Ireland and Move2Be. The programme aims to empower young female athletes aged 17-21, while focusing on leadership development.

Women’s Student Coaching Academy

This year, we had 8 female coaches in the Women’s Student Coaching Academy, which is a collaborative initiative between Student Sport Ireland, Sport Ireland, 26 third-level institutions, and ten NGB’s. This ongoing program is designed to provide female student coaches with the support they need to develop and reach their full coaching potential. By enhancing their skills and increase their visibility, the academy aims to inspire more young women to pursue coaching roles in third-level institutions.

Winter Webinar Series

Starting November 26th, 2025, webinars were held monthly over the course of five months, covering essential topics for female rowers, volunteers, parents, and coaches.

Lift, Row, Glow

Lift, Row, Glow is in partnership with Weightlifting Ireland, it launched in Cork schools this year.  It is a brand new initiative designed to empower young teenage girls. It allowed secondary school girls to move in a whole new way, combining rowing and weightlifting in fun, energising sessions.

Women on the Water

Women on the Water aims to introduce adult women to rowing at a recreational level. The programme includes use of the rowing machine, progressing to on the water, introducing drills and exercises that will get you comfortable with the rowing stroke.
