Garda Vetting is a key part of this effort, helping us create a safe space for everyone involved in our sport.
When submitting a garda vetting application please follow these steps carefully to avoid delays.
Proof of Address
The name on your proof of address document must match the name on your official identity document.
Ensure the address on your application form matches the one on your proof of address.
Acceptable documents include a utility bill or bank statement.
The document must be issued within the last six months.
Redacting Personal Information
Before submitting your proof of address, you may need to redact (hide) sensitive details. This means covering personal data such as account numbers while keeping your name and address visible.
It is not acceptable to redact Name and Address
It is acceptable to redact Account Number and Transaction Details
Review Your Application
Double-check your form before submitting it.
Ensure the declaration box is ticked.
Confirm your RI membership fees are up to date to avoid processing issues.
Email Follow-Up from the Bureau
Keep an eye on your inbox for an email from the Bureau, which will request additional information.
There is a strict time limit to respond—failure to do so may require you to reapply.
Access NI Vetting (Northern Ireland)
If you’re based in Northern Ireland, Access NI vetting applies instead. Vetting must be completed using the NIDirect website: www.nidirect.gov.uk/accessni
To apply:
You must be approved by your Club’s Children’s Officer (CPO), who will provide the necessary six-digit PIN.
Applications must be countersigned by the Club CPO.
Signatories will not issue PINs directly to individuals.

RI NI Branch is the registered body for vetting in Northern Ireland and is certified compliant with Access NI.
Volunteers are processed free of charge; fees may apply for paid staff.
The Signatories are responsible for confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive data.

Who Requires Vetting?
We are authorised to vet individuals in the following roles:
Juvenile/Youth Coach
Juvenile Teacher/Tutor
Club Children’s Officer
Club Youth Worker
Juvenile/Youth Team Manager/Chaperone
Juvenile Club Volunteer
Committee Members & Volunteers:
The National Vetting Bureau (NVB) has advised that vetting is not required for general volunteers or committee members unless they are working directly with juniors or vulnerable individuals.
